Engine and generator specialist WaterMota Ltd has been awarded the exclusive Hyundai Seasall UK distributorship. Hyundai Seasall is a dedicated marine division of Hyundai Kia Motor Corporation.
In recent years, the South Devon based company has been primarily known for supplying engines for workboats and commercial craft but with this new agreement is returning to its roots in the leisure market.
The company is now looking to sign suitable dealers across the country to sell the engines.
“It’s a very positive move for WaterMota. We’ve experienced some amazing growth in recent years and signing with Hyundai is a further step forward.
“Hyundai is a very well known and respected name. The company has recently moved into the marine sector and has produced a very good quality engine with an attractive price tag,” said Beacham.
“People are looking at cost effective alternatives and Hyundai is a very good choice.
“We will remain strong in the commercial and workboat market but it’s also time for us to move back into the pleasure market.”
The engines are already proving popular with two sold just days after the distributor agreement was signed.
The first two models of Hyundai SeasALL diesel engines are an in line four cylinder 2.2 litre and a V6 CRDI 3.0 litre.
The new 3 litre diesel engines has a power rating of 250ps (184kW) and 50kgm of torque. Weighing just 334kg, the sterndrive, shaftdrive and waterjet models are ultra-light, extremely compact, quiet and fuel-efficient.
The 2.2lt in-line four-stroke diesels develop 170ps (125kW) of power and 35.5kgm torque. They are also available in sterndrive, shaft drive or jet drive configurations and weigh just 260kg. An electronic engine management and common rail fuel injection system optimises engine power, fuel consumption and emissions.
Both are available with ZF down angle or vee drive reversing gearboxes for conventional drive or are suitable for Jet propulsion.
The engines are designed for light duty commercial, RIBS or for the pleasure boat industry.
Beacham said: “Hyundai is aiming to become one of the world’s leading marine engine manufacturers and we’re delighted to have signed for the exclusive UK distributorship.
“We’re now looking for dealers and anyone interested should contact WaterMota direct.”
